PACKING TIPS
Book early
If you are planning to use Ibiza Transport services, please book early. Waiting to do so could mean paying a higher price or limited availability, particularly during peak moving seasons.
Use the right size boxes
Put heavy items, like books, in small boxes; light items, like linens and pillows, in bigger ones. Large boxes packed with heavy items are harder to manoeuvre and also have a better chance of breaking and spilling contents.
Don’t leave empty spaces in the boxes
Fill in any gaps with clothing, towels, or packing paper. Boxes that feel loosely packed or unbalanced may not be accepted by Ibiza Transport.
Bundle breakables
When packing fragile objects such as photo frames, glassware, and dishes, put packing paper around each one, then wrap bundles of five or six together with more paper. Pack dishes on their sides, never flat. And use plenty of bunched-up paper as padding above and below. Cups and bowls can be placed inside one another, with paper in between, and wrapped three or four in a bundle. Pack them all in dish-barrel boxes where possible and use cushion sheets for added protection.
Tape boxes well
Use a couple of pieces of tape to close the bottom and top seams, then make a couple of wraps all the way around the top and bottom edges, where strain is concentrated.
Protect the corners
Prevent any framed photos, framed certificates, or artwork from getting scratched and damaged with frame corner protectors.
If you are moving artwork
We highly recommend you check our Dedicated Services for high value items. For pictures framed behind glass, make an ‘X’ with masking tape across the glass to strengthen it and to hold it together if it shatters. Wrap pictures in paper or protective wrap and put them in a frame box, with a piece of cardboard between each framed piece for protection.
If you are moving a television or monitor
Televisions, plasma screens and monitors will not be covered by the Ibiza Transport insurance policy unless they are packed in the original retail packaging including outer box and inner protective materials.
Invest in quality protective wrap
An absolute must to prevent scratches and damage, from large items, to furniture corners and fragile objects. Check our Packing Materials for professional grade wrap.
Ziploc bags
Don’t forget the little things! As in the really little things, like important screws and fastenings. Use ziploc bags so that all small items are kept together.
Don’t use plastic bags or bin liners
Ibiza Transport will not accept any items packed in plastic bin liners. Any plastic bags or bin liners must be packed inside a box.
Learn to love labelling
Labelling each box with your name and the delivery address is a requirement for Ibiza Transport. Numbering each box and providing us with an inventory list is also highly recommended.
